Downtown Agoura Hills is considered to be the heart of the city in geographical and economic terms. This district was originally built in the 1970’s and is considered to be the historic portion of the city.

The median price for a home in this neighborhood is right around $650,000 with some of the homes being as high in price as $1.2 million. Downtown Agoura Hills is comprised of several shopping centers around Kanan Rd. and the Thousand Oaks Blvd., which means that residents of this neighborhood are provided with easy access to some fantastic shopping and entertainment options. Many of the restaurants and cafes in the neighborhood have been renovated and redesigned over the past decade, which has rejuvenated this portion of the city with things to do and see for all to enjoy.

East Agoura

East Agoura is a fantastic neighborhood in Agoura Hills that’s located at the very edge of the eastern portion of the city just nearby the Cheeseboro and Palo Comado Canyons. This is a very dense area that consists of a variety of different types of homes.

The median price for a home in this community is around $1.1 million with some of the townhomes and condos being priced at closer to $500,000. This neighborhood is a fantastic destination for city and country lovers alike. The downtown portion of Agoura Hills is just minutes away, while the more rural Old Agoura neighborhood is to the north. Within this community is the fantastic Chumash Park, which plays host to a baseball diamond, playground, and several fields that are perfect for relaxing and having picnics.

Forest Cove

Forest Cove is a residential neighborhood in Agoura Hills that consists mainly of cozy single-family homes. The main architectural style that’s used with these homes is the lovely French Provincial that’s notable for being ornate and elegant. Residents in this neighborhood travel a couple of minutes to the main thoroughfare of Kanan Rd. and Thousand Oaks Blvd. for their shopping and entertainment needs. The main area of focus in this neighborhood is the Forest Cove Park, which serves as a great place for friends and family to gather as a community. The homes in this neighborhood have a median price of around $950,000.

Fountainwood

Fountainwood is among the largest neighborhoods in Agoura Hills and comes with a wide variety of different types of homes that you can select from. Since Sumac Elementary is located right in the middle of the neighborhood, this destination has proven to be very popular with families. As for shopping and entertainment, the Fountainwood neighborhood is just up the road from the main shopping centers in Agoura Hills and is a few minutes away from Westlake Village. Residents of the neighborhood love traveling to the local Medea State Park for their recreational needs. The median price for a home in Fountainwood is around $900,000.

Historic Quarter

The Historic Quarter of Agoura Hills is located to the southeast of the East Agoura neighborhood and is comprised of two distinct sections that provide different experiences. The south section consists mostly of office buildings and includes a few restaurants and clubs that you can visit.

The north side comes with more modern homes that are built in the contemporary architectural style. The small number of homes in the south section are made in the Rustic architectural style. If you enjoy spending time outdoors, this neighborhood is just a minute or two away from the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area, which is comprised of thousands of acres of parks, hiking trails, and picnic areas for you to enjoy. When searching for a home in this neighborhood, the median price is right around $800,000.

Lake Lindero

Lake Lindero is a fantastic suburban neighborhood in Agoura Hills that provides homeowners with amazing views of the lake of the same name. Depending on where you live in the neighborhood, paying dues to the HOA provides you with access to an Olympic-sized swimming pool that serves as the recreational focal point of the community.

This neighborhood is considered to be very safe and is located just beside some great shopping and dining options like Los Agaves, Wades Wines, and Brendan’s Irish Pub & Restaurant. The homes in this neighborhood have a median price of around $750,000 with some of the higher prices going to the homes that offer lake views.

Malibu Junction

Malibu Junction is a historic neighborhood in Agoura Hills that was originally used as a primary stop for travelers on Route 101. This neighborhood currently plays host to the fantastic Paramount Ranch attraction that has been used for the filming of many popular movies and television shows over the past seven decades.

While this neighborhood is comprised of a small number of residences, it’s also considered to be Agoura Hill’s main entertainment center because of the many restaurants, clubs, and theaters contained within. The homes in this community have a median price of around $900,000.

Hillrise

Hillrise is a residential neighborhood that was originally built in the 1970’s and is located just to the south of Downtown Agoura Hills, which is where residents do their shopping. The neighborhood is considered to be an eclectic one with a somewhat bohemian culture.

The homes in this neighborhood are mostly older homes that were built in the early 1970’s yet have since been updated and renovated for a more modern touch. The community has a suburban feel to it and is only a 25-minute drive from Malibu. When looking for a home in this area, the median price is right around $750,000.

Morrison Estates

Morrison Estates is a luxury community in the western portion of Agoura Hills that benefits from being minutes away from the fantastic shopping, dining, and entertainment options of Westlake Village and Thousand Oaks. This is also considered to be among the best family communities in Agoura Hills.

Although the neighborhood plays host to many different types of homes, you’ll find some more upscale estate homes in this neighborhood that offer luxurious amenities at a higher price point than most properties in the city. While the average price for a home in this community is around $1.1 million, you can expect to pay upwards of $2.5 million for the larger homes in this neighborhood.

Morrison Ranch

Morrison Ranch is largely considered to be the most desirable and appealing neighborhood in Agoura Hills because of the safety and privacy it provides along with the beautiful scenery of Simi Hills. Many of the homes in this community have been remodeled since they were first built in the 1980’s, which means that you’ll likely be provided with modern and up-to-date amenities. The neighborhood is also just a couple of blocks away from the main source of shopping and dining in the city.

Most of the homes in this community are priced above $1 million with the median price being $1.1 million. These homes usually have floor plans of around 3,000 square feet or higher.

North Village

North Village is the northernmost neighborhood in Agoura Hills and is located within walking distance from the hiking trails and open plains of the Cheeseboro and Palo Comado Canyons. This neighborhood is just down the street from the main Agoura Hills thoroughfare of Thousand Oaks Blvd. and Kanan Rd. where most of the shopping takes place.

Almost the entirety of this neighborhood is residential and comprised of spacious single-family homes that have a median price of close to $800,000. Many of these homes are made in the Southern Mediterranean architectural style.

Old Agoura

Old Agoura is a historic district in Agoura Hills that’s the perfect place to live for couples or families who are looking for a rural location to settle down in. It’s located to the eastern side of the city and is comprised of a large number of ranch-style homes that come with horse facilities and private corrals. There are numerous trails located in the neighborhood, many of which lead to the protected open spaces of the Cheeseboro and Palo Comado Canyons. Although you can find some homes in this community for under $1 million, the median home value is closer to $1.5 million with some properties costing as much as $3 million.

Reyes Adobe District

The Reyes Adobe District is a neighborhood in the western portion of Agoura Hills that’s mainly known for being home to the Reyes Adobe Historical Site, which consists of buildings that were first built in the 1850’s. There are also a couple of great playgrounds in this neighborhood that make the community an appealing one to families. The southernmost area of the neighborhood is located nearby Ventura Freeway, which is why you can find a variety of shops and restaurants there like the Reyes Adobe Plaza and the Bellini Bistro. The homes in this area have a median price of $800,000 and are known for having large floor plans for the price.

South End

South End is a neighborhood that’s located just to the south of Downtown Agoura Hills and the shops within. The neighborhood has seen substantial growth in home development over the past decade because of its ideal location to the south of popular Downtown Agoura Hills and to the east of the oft-visited Malibu Junction neighborhood. For recreational needs, Chumash Park is situated just outside of South End. The homes in this community have a median price of around $800,000.

Upper Downtown

Upper Downtown is a mostly residential neighborhood that’s to the northeast of Downtown Agoura Hills. Since most of the land in this community consists of a standard suburban layout, the properties are comprised mostly of single-family homes with a price range that extends from $800,000 to $1.5 million. The median price for a home in the Upper Downtown neighborhood is right around $1.1 million.

Some of these homes come with pools and larger lots that allow you to live the ranch and equestrian lifestyle. Most of the homes in this community were built in the early 1980’s but have since been updated with more modern features and layouts.
